<< Dogs able to detect mold in homes (KING5 Seattle) Mold-sniffing dog misses no nook, cranny (KOMO Seattle) >>Lately I've been wheezing after running and in general feeling like it's harder to breath, is it possible orange mold is causing this?
If it helps the mold is orange growing in discrete small dotts aproximately 0.2cmx0.2cm on the ceiling of my bathroom(probably due to the fact that there is no ceiling fan so the water vapor is trapped towards the ceiling) anyway, what is the best way to remove this mold?
Check out the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by environmental expert Dr Ed Close. Simply diffusing a therapeutic-grade essential oil regularly in this building will likely result in an environment very hostel to mold.
Personally, I'd avoid bleach…it'll exasperate the breathing issues and the EPA is now saying that it shouldn't be used for mold control.

Mold can cause breathing problems, but I have heard black mold is the issue…
(Not to say orange mold cannot cause issues as well though…)
I would go to an allergist who can give you a breathing test to see if you might have asthma and who can also test to see if you are allergic to mold, or anything else that can cause wheezing…
I would say any good cleaner with bleach should kill the mold, but don't be shocked if it comes back…you might have to do it every few days, or at least once a week when you clean the bathroom.
I too don't have a fan in the loo, but I use a window fan blowing out when I shower, then blowing in after the shower to dry out the room. It helps a great deal.
Good luck.

Hi,
I know it has been few years since the post. However, I am experiencing the similar situation right now and I was wondering if you ever find out if the shortness of breath and the orange mold had any correlation? Will greatly appreciate any information. Thank you, iri
Hi Iri,
Mold and more specifically mold spores are known allergens and can cause allergic reaction in certain individuals. Not all people will necessarily react in the same way to a particular allergen.
I would first suggest eliminating the mold using a commercially available product. Some people still use a mild bleach solution. Be sure also to eliminate the source that is contributing to the growth of the mold in that area. In some cases this can be due to a water leak or other situation which is keeping the area moist. I am not a physician, but I think it can be said that shortness of breath can have many causes. Please consider checking with your doctor.
